God called Abraham
And put him to the test
Said: Take Isaac your beloved son
Of the wife you love the best
Make of him an offering
On top of the mountain crest
God called Abraham
And put him to the test
So Abraham set out
No reluctance or delay
Took Isaac, two servants, a mule
A trip that took three days
They came to Mount Moriah
Where the good Lord they could praise
Abraham set out
With no reluctance or delay
Three days to mount Moriah
Three days upon the road
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
Righteousness, righteousness
Give credit where it takes hold
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
Isaac was a young boy
You can imagine what he’d say
Daddy are we there yet
When we get there can we play
But Abraham had a busy mind
And heavy thoughts to weigh
Isaac was a young boy
You can imagine what he’d say
Now Abraham told Isaac
They were off to sacrifice
But Isaac looked around him
And saw the one demise
Father, Father tell me this
For a lamb I do not see
What then shall we sacrifice?
What then can it be?
Abraham was in a jam
I’m sure you can’t deny
There’s no way he could tell him
But there’s no way he would lie
My son don’t you worry none
For the good Lord will provide
For this I’m sure, the Lord above
Is the one who will provide
Three days to mount Moriah
Three days upon the road
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
Righteousness, righteousness
Give credit where it takes hold
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
When they reached the mountain side
When they arrived at last
It seemed their three-day journey
Was finally in the past
The donkey and the servants
Missed the final climb
Isaac carried up some wood
Abraham, fire and knife
Now Abraham had a chore in mind
To make this sacrifice
He took the son that he loved
His Hands and feet did bind
He would go ahead with this deed
He would not decline
He took the son that he loved
His Hands and feet did bind
Three days to mount Moriah
Three days upon the road
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
Righteousness, righteousness
Give credit where it takes hold
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
Abraham took Isaac
Laid him on some twigs so dry
Then he took his mighty dagger
And raised his hand up high
Suddenly an angel appeared
To stay his steady hand
And in the nearby thicket
Was caught a small young ram
Abraham then freed his son
At the Lords command
Afterwards he took the ram
To the alter stand
They sacrificed that little ram
The good Lord did provide
And the three-day journey home
Proved an easy ride.
Three days to mount Moriah
Three days upon the road
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
Righteousness, righteousness
Give credit where it takes hold
God spoke to Abraham
Abraham believed what he was told
