Sometimes it is good to understand some services NOT covered by Medicare.
On my blog I list some common misunderstandings concerning Original Medicare.
People new to Medicare are often dismayed to find out that routine dental care is not a part of Medicare. Here are 12 things Not covered by Medicare.
- Prescription Drugs
- Routine dental care, most dental care or dentures
- Routine eye exams, eyeglasses or contacts
- Hearing aids or related exams or services
- Most care while traveling outside the United States
- Help with bathing, dressing, eating, etc. (custodial care)
- Comfort items such as a hospital phone, TV or private room
- Long-term care
- Cosmetic surgery
- Most chiropractic services
- Most acupuncture or other alternative treatments
- Routine foot care
Many of these items are covered by your Medicare Advantage Plan. Before choosing an Advantage or Supplement plan, ensure you have a thorough understanding of Medicare itself. When it’s time to explore your options, don’t fall for a sales pitch from a single company or an agent representing only one provider.
