Walking with Idols

I went walking with my idols; we went walking hand in hand.
Oh, they’re just some simple idols, I hope you’ll understand.

First I walked with comfort; he’s a cool cat you know.
Instead of confrontations, it’s the easy path we’ll go

But Jesus came and said to me; why do you keep such company?
If you want to worship idols, you can have no part of me.

So I said to Mr. Comfort, sure it’s time for you to go.
For it’s in my trials and tribulations, it seems that when I grow.

Goodbye Comfort, goodbye comfort.

Next I walked with the idol pride; I held her firmly by the hand.
I liked the way she lifted me above my fellow man.

But Jesus came and said to me; why do you keep such company?
If you want to worship idols, you can have no part of me.

So I say to the idol pride, sure it’s time for you to go.
For in this world I am no better than a child on beggar’s row.

Goodbye pride, goodbye pride.

Once I walked with the idol respect; I carried her wherever I went.
I longed for man’s approval and sought acknowledgment.

But Jesus came and said to me; why do you keep such company?
If you want to worship idols, you can have no part of me.

So I said the idol respect, sure it’s time for you to go.
The thought of wasting time with you just chills me to the bone.

Goodbye respect, goodbye respect.

Now I’m careful who I walk with; careful whose hand I hold.
I will worship none but Jesus, Jesus Christ alone.

When Jesus comes and walks with me, I am blessed by His company.
I will give my love to Jesus, He can every part of me.

Welcome Jesus, welcome Jesus.
